Tips for completing Darkness Within 2: The Dark Lineage - Main Missions #001
This guide will help you, as Detective Howard Lorid, uncover many dark secrets, including about his own family, past, and future.
The Darkness Whithin series has a slightly different interface than most adventure games. First of all, at the beginning of the game you need to determine the degree of its complexity by choosing one of three modes: Easy (Standard), Medium (Detective) and Difficult (Senior Detective). Depending on this, various parameters in the game may or may not be available. Fortunately, this is not an irreversible solution - although you cannot change the selected mode, you can change the settings of the mentioned options at any time. Thus, the really important difference between the modes is that in the simplest case, you can emphasize 6 lines in a document at once, on average - 5, and in the most complex - only 3.
In addition, you can activate or deactivate the following elements in the difficulty level settings:
Hints -they can always appear from time to time (when the program sees that the player has thought about a problem for a moment or is performing actions without order or composition) and never.
Analysis - you get an additional button in the document verification window. Each time you use it, another important fragment of the document is revealed (you don't need to underline and check it yourself). However, with the help of automatic analysis, it is impossible to identify the so-called hidden clues.
Hint Counter - shows how many hints and how many were found in this document. In the case of hidden ones, this information is visible only after finding one of them.
Underlining is possible only in documents where there really are hints, or in all of them, which, of course, makes it difficult to find important terms. In the latter case, the hint counter is inactive.
The latter two options clearly improve document analysis and will certainly be useful for those people for whom highlighting line by line on several pages without any information about whether all the keys have already been found in it can be annoying. By the way, you don't need to underline whole lines, you only need a fragment of a word in each of them. When checking, the program automatically highlights the entire significant text fragment.
All collectibles are highlighted in red, items that need to be rearranged are orange, documents that need to be underlined are blue, the rest are green, and puzzle solutions are in bold.
